Two More Charged for the Birthday Boy Beating Death (case update)

Jul 14, 2015

Two more adults are charged for the birthday boy beating death of 9-year-old Jack Garcia on June 30, 2015 in Maryland.

Reuters is reporting that both the murdered child’s mother, Oriana Garcia, and an uncle have been arrested, after authorities learned the two were planning on leaving the state, presumably because of the crime they co-committed.

Oriana Garcia’s violently abusive boyfriend, Robert Wilson, was initially apprehended for the assault on her son last month and for his subsequent death on July 5th at a local hospital.

But today she and her brother Jacob Barajas are also in custody.

The duo was arrested by Hagerstown police officers yesterday on charges of child abuse and second-degree murder.

According to investigators, Barajas helped Wilson to restrain and handcuff Garcia’s young son so he could be “punished for taking a piece of birthday cake without permission.”

The boy sustained multiple life-threatening injuries in the brutal attack and never regained consciousness.

Oriana Garcia is also accused of barring first responders from administering emergency aid to the badly beaten and comatose child.  Read more about this case on Crime Magazine.
