The homeless dog below is being celebrated in Brazil as a hero today for rescuing a newborn baby boy whose mother had thrown him in a dumpster minutes after birthing him.

The hungry canine was foraging in a trash bin for food scraps when she discovered an infant there with its umbilical cord still attached.
Per the cell pic above, she gently took the baby into her jaws and carried him to the nearest human beings she could find -- that astonished family then rushed him to a hospital.
Doctors determined the newborn is in excellent health, a police spokesman has since confirmed. Brazilian authorities are now seeking to identify and apprehend the mother who abandoned her helpless child.
Incidences of neglected dogs heroically coming to the rescue of neglected children are sadly becoming more commonplace these days.
