The Kentucky girl was found less than a half-hour later in a nearby creek, raped and asphyxiated.
Following an intense investigation and manhunt, state police arrested Tim Madden this week and charged him with Doolin’s kidnapping, homicide and related sex crimes against a minor.
They say the 38-year-old man’s DNA was discovered on the little girl’s body and at the scene of her violent death.
The suspect’s bail was therefore set at $1-million to reduce the likelihood of his release while the investigation continues -- he probably wouldn’t be safe if discharged from jail anyway.
An autopsy on Gabriella Doolin showed her abductor had first attempted to strangle the 7-year-old to death after sodomizing her, then ultimately drowned her in the creek.
Investigators initially declined to reveal the child’s cause and manner of death, for fear the killer pedophile would flee jurisdiction or be tracked down by vigilantes.
