A pesky Boy Scout leader in New Jersey has learned the hard way not to bug the bears -- especially if they’re trying to hibernate.

Hibernating Bear Tries to Kill Trespassing Scout Leader - NJ

Experts report that this winter’s record high temperatures have significantly delayed wildlife hibernation, when, normally, they would have already settled into their deep sleeps.

That was obviously the dilemma of the restless black bear who Chris Petronino encountered over the weekend.

The 50-year-old troop leader was endeavoring to educate a trio of young Scouts when he entered the bruin’s cave on Sunday afternoon thinking that it was doing its seasonal slumber.

But trespasser Petronino was wrong about that. Very. Very. Mistaken.

“We have a gentleman in a cave with a bear … he has been injured by the bear,” a 911 emergency dispatcher informed first responders moments later.

“He is bleeding from his neck, his arm, and his head.”
