Birmingham Alabama officials say their 8-year-old murder suspect is the youngest on record, so far.
The unidentified juvenile will be charged in the beating death of a toddler girl whose parent negligently left her in his care one night so she and the boy’s mother could go clubbing.
Police therefore also arrested 26-year-old Katerra Lewis for manslaughter, since her friend’s son was clearly too young to be *babysitting* her one-year-old daughter.
The mother of the accused boy however wasn’t charged, but he was removed from her custody this week pending arraignment himself and a family court trial.
Tragically, another unnamed 6-year-old, one of a handful of youngsters who was also being babysat by the 8-year-old murder suspect, is a key witness to the brutal crime he committed.
That child told officers the victim was fatally bludgeoned when she “wouldn’t stop crying” -- testimony consistent with the traumatic injuries the slain toddler suffered to her head and internal organs.
