South Carolina officials and the family of missing naval officer Vincent Ferdin (below) are asking the public’s help in finding him.
The 20-year-old sailor was allegedly last seen on September 18, 2015 leaving his girlfriend’s home in Goose Creek by bicycle.
He was expected at his base soon thereafter, but never showed and has not been heard from since texting his mom and maternal aunt -- who are twins -- “Happy Birthday” around the time of his disappearance.
Not long after weirdly vanishing, Ferdin’s abandoned automobile was located by police and impounded.
Investigators say all calls to his cell phone have been going directly to voicemail and that he hasn’t used the device himself since the day he first went missing.
Petty Officer Vincent Ferdin is a light-skinned male about 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who knows what happened to the young man, or his current whereabouts, is urged to alert the North Charleston Police Department at 843-750-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 843 554-1111.
