Last night searchers had to call off the rescue mission for missing country music star Craig Strickland due to bad weather, but those efforts will hopefully resume today.
Strickland and his younger companion, Chase Morland, 22, vanished into the wilderness near Tulsa Oklahoma, after encountering a severe winter storm system that had engulfed the region.
Their boat was found “capsized” over the weekend and Morland’s body was subsequently recovered on Monday, according to the latest reports from ABC News.
Just prior to embarking on an ill-advised and ill-fated duck hunting expedition with 29-year-old Craig Strickland, the dead man had boasted on Twitter that they intended to brave “Winter Storm Goliath.”
Ominously, in retrospect, Morland’s last tweet was published under the hashtag #IntoTheStorm.
Strickland’s band mates also took to social media, telling their Facebook fans yesterday that the search for him -- amid epic snowfall, freezing rain, high winds and flooding -- was to be temporarily suspended overnight.
“Craig has not been found,” they confirmed. “Please keep praying for his safety.”
