Authorities in North Carolina accuse the 30-year-old new mom below of getting stoned out of her mind on Christmas eve, while her naked and neglected baby lay dying on the sofa.
Stephanie Tillman has been charged with child abuse leading to a minor’s death and remains in police custody, pending arraignment. The source of her facial injuries at the time of booking was not disclosed.
Investigators say Tillman’s husband came home from work on the night before Christmas and discovered his wife in a state of “extreme intoxication” from a prescription med overdose.
The couple’s 6-month-old son was found dead in the next room, although the time and cause of his death has not been released yet.
Two other unharmed children were taken from the Tillman's "filthy" home by child welfare workers, and placed temporarily with relatives.
According to the incident report, the suspect had to be treated at the scene for a drug overdose before she could be arrested.
