The Associated Press along with Reuters has just reported that U.S. ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens, 52, was killed overnight along with three other embassy staff members.

Stevens was reportedly killed Tuesday night as he and several embassy employees were attempting to rescue staff at the U.S. consulate office in Benghazi.

They lost their lives when protesters began firing gunshots and rocket propelled grenades at the U.S. compound. All of those killed, in addition to Ambassador Stevens, have been described as "senior security" officials.
