Walmart fight ends in a knock out

STRANGE CRIMES - Sun, 02/10/2013 - 07:26
Colorado – A man just outside the store was having an animated conversation on a cellphone, talking loudly and using profanity.

That man was identified as Cassidy Ray Rhoads, 33.

A passer-by, another man, took exception and asked Rhoads to knock it off.

The request turned into a confrontation, and the two men began arguing.

Rhoads showed a holstered gun, and the other man immediately tackled him.

As he was taken to the ground, Rhoads hit his head on the pavement and was knocked unconscious. Full Article

Father accused of beating son and daughter

Man jailed on child cruelty charges

February 8, 2013

A 33-year-old Oakland Park man was jailed on child cruelty charges after allegedly beating his children, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Edward Joseph Hoover is accused of using a black cable wire to swat his daughter, 10, and son, 11, on Jan. 8, the arrest report stated.

On previous occasions, Hoover allegedly punched his son in his leg and the upper left side of his back, and used a belt to hit his legs and back, the report stated.

The children told detectives that Hoover would beat them when he was in a bad mood or if someone upset him. They said he had a bad temper and would get upset if they took too long to get ice for his iced tea, investigators said.

His son said he would be punched in the chest for taking too long in the shower, they said.

Hoover was being held in the Broward County Jail on $50,000 bond for five counts of child cruelty. He also was being held without bond on charges of drug possession and burglary with assault and battery, records showed.

39-year-old Terry Landrum was arrested late Friday night.

By Michael Purdy

Tulsa, Okla. — A Tulsa father is accused of punching and choking his teenage son.

Police say 39-year-old Terry Landrum was arrested late Friday night on one count of child abuse by injury.

The 13-year-old son says the incident happened around 7 p.m., near 65th and Boulder.

Landrum is accused of holding the boy down with his knee and punching him in the face. The teen says his father punched him multiple times before also choking him.

Police did find evidence of the abuse, so he was taken to a Tulsa hospital where it was determined he has injuries to his left ear drum.

Landrum was released from the Tulsa County Jail on Saturday after posting bail.
