Dad arrested for fatally injuring 3-week-old daughter (Sacramento, California)

Thu, 05/16/2013 - 11:54
Sounds like a real worthless piece of sh**. Woke up all pissy from the baby's crying. Threw her and shook her--and ultimately killed her. THEN assaulted mom for trying to rescue the baby.

Dad is identified as ALIAS JAMES MCLAUGHLIN.

Father arrested in death of 3-week-old daughter

A Sacramento man has been arrested, accused of fatally injuring his 3-week-old daughter.

Alias James McLaughlin (pictured), 20, was booked into Sacramento County Jail this afternoon on suspicion of murder.

Sacramento police were called to the UC Davis Medical Center about 3:48 p.m. Friday regarding an infant that had been transported to the emergency room. It was reported that the baby was not breathing and had succumbed to injuries, according to a Police Department news release.

Police interviewed family members and the coroner's office responded. On Tuesday, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office determined that the infant died of blunt force trauma to the head.

McLaughlin is accused of being responsible for physical abuse that led to the baby's death.

McLaughlin reportedly was awakened Friday morning by the infant's fussing and crying. Provoked by the infant's behavior, he allegedly picked her up, repeatedly threw her down and shook her.

When the mother attempted to rescue the baby, McLaughlin allegedly assaulted the mother as well, police said.

The baby stopped breathing, and family members called the Sacramento Fire Department. Fire personnel responded and transported that infant to the hospital.

"Primary caretaker" dad on trial for beating death of 5-month-old son (Jacksonville, Florida)

Thu, 05/16/2013 - 11:46
Another case where Mom is blamed (and accepted blame)--even though she was never charged with abusing the baby and had been working for the seven weeks before the baby's beating death. Meanwhile, dad CORDERO ANTHONY WEBBER had taken on the job as "primary caretaker." She had the misfortune, it appears, of believing Daddy's lies about the baby's injuries.

But of course mothers are trashed these days if they don't encourage and exalt "father involvement" and thorough suppress any independent judgement or maternal instincts.

Plus, as a mother, you are totally screwed if you ever allow the father to assume "primary caretaking" responsibilities. If you attempt to leave the abuser deadbeat, you will assuredly lose child custody. Especially in Florida.

Jury to decide if father is guilty of beating, killing 5-month-old son

Posted: May 16, 2013 - 12:46pm

By Larry Hannan

A jury will begin deliberating Thursday afternoon on the fate of a Jacksonville man accused of beating, neglecting and murdering his 5-month-old-son.

Cordero Anthony Webber, 24, is accused of first-degree murder and child neglect in the death of Cordero Webber Jr.

An autopsy showed the baby died of head trauma, and had suffered broken ribs, atrophied muscles and abrasions on his face. The infant also was malnourished with no body fat.

If convicted of first-degree murder, he will be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. But the jury does have the option of convicting him of second-degree murder or manslaughter.

Assistant State Attorney Rich Mantei said Webber repeatedly abused his son over a four- to eight-week period before he died in November 2011.

“The last few minutes of Cordero Webber Jr.’s life were spent in profound pain,” Mantei said. “And the last thing he saw was the person who had sired him.”

The child was already dead when police and fire arrived five minutes after the boy’s mother had called 911 and had probably been dead for awhile, Mantei said.

During an autopsy doctors found signs of abuse going back months, including broken ribs that were in the process of healing and multiple head traumas.

The infant’s brain was also half as big as it should have been, a sign that he was malnourished and had stopped growing, Mantei said.

“We are talking about a child who had already suffered three to five massive head injuries,” Mantei said. “It was blunt trauma to the head by a defendant that was 350 pounds.”

At the time of his arrest, Webber told police that he thought his son was autistic because he couldn’t hold his head up and would always look down and to the right. Mantei said that frustration over his son was one of the reasons for the abuse.

The boy’s mother, Kierra Monet Hayes Laird, 24, pleaded guilty last year to child neglect and testified against Webber. She asked him about the injuries their son had and the father told her he hadn’t noticed anything.

Defense attorney James Hernandez said Laird was responsible for the abuse and is blaming Webber to get a lesser sentence.

The child showed signs of injury for months, and Laird is being self-serving by claiming she believed Webber when he said he didn’t know what was happening, Hernandez said.

At one point Laird suggested to Webber their son had beg bugs, which shows she was trying to come up with an alibi for what was happening, he said.

“Ms. Hayes Laird was frustrated with my client and frustrated that her baby was autistic,” Hernandez said. “There is reasonable doubt that my client committed this offense.”

But Mantei pointed out that Laird had a job and Webber was the primary caretaker of the baby.

“She got a job in September about seven weeks before the baby was killed,” Mantei said. “The bruises started appearing in late September and early October.”

Laird is scheduled to be sentenced the week of June 17 and faces up to 15 years in prison.

Dad with "anger problem" sentenced for assault on 1-month-old son (Leonardtown, Maryland)

Thu, 05/16/2013 - 11:30
The dad is identified as JACOB WILKINS. Notice that the attorney tries to blame Mom too, although she was never charged with anything. This is typical mother-hating.  Mothers are guilty because, well, they're guilty.

Mom is very lucky that she was able to move away, and is (apparently) not being required to "co-parent" with this thug after he gets out of jail in 18 months.

Father sentenced for abusing his infant child

Leonardtown, MD - 5/16/2013

By Dick Myers

A Charlotte Hall man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for the second degree assault on his infant son. Jacob Wilkins, 20, was sentenced Wednesday in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court by Judge Michael Stamm. Wilkins also has a Waldorf address in court records.

Wilkins was indicted on charges of Child Abuse/2nd Degree – Custodial and Assault-Second Degree. A warrant for his arrest was served on February 23, 2012. He pled guilty to the second degree assault charge on January 25 of this year.

Deputy State’s Attorney Julie White told the judge than the child, who is now 20 months old, obviously could not testify as to what happened to him. She said the child was taken to Children’s Hospital when he was just one month old. The child had several fractured ribs and a broken leg. “Punishment will never be enough to take back what he (Wilkins) has taken from his family.”

White said, “He has an incredible anger problem.” She added, “In a fit of anger he broke his son’s leg. That requires an incredible amount of force.”

The victim and his mother have since moved out of the area.

Wilkins’ attorney, Public Defender Gerald Riviello said neither parent (the mother is now 17) was prepared for parenthood. He said the event came “out of ignorance” not anger. “I don’t think it was horrific,” he said. The attorney noted his client had taken responsibility and enrolled in a parenting class but said counselors felt he didn’t need anger management classes.

Wilkin’s father, Henry, testified at the sentencing hearing that he couldn’t believe his son did what he was charged with. He said, “He is not denying something happened. He is not an angry person.” He added, “I really don’t believe there was any intent for this child to be hurt.”

Wilkin told the judge, “I have never been an angry person. I have always been a shy guy.” He said in talking to police he changed his story, “because I was scared to death.” He testified he picked up his son and didn’t know how the injuries occurred.

The judge listened to Wilkins intently and then said, “Never once did you mention your child. Everything was about you. As a father the center of your universe is your child.” The judge said when he looked at pictures of Wilkins’ son, “I see a darling child. I see a baby.”

The judge’s sentence was five year in the Department of Corrections, suspended to 18 months in the county jail so he can have work release and continue to support his son, which testimony indicated he had been doing. Also the judge ordered that one-thirds of his salary go to support the child. He will be on five year’s supervised probation after he is released.

Why was this poor baby in dad GREGORY PARKER's care? Was he babysitting while Mom was at work? Was it a custody/visitation arrangement? No explanation given.

MORGAN CITY — St. Mary Parish authorities say an 18-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of second-degree cruelty to juveniles after his infant son was found to have suffered brain damage.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Gregory Parker of Morgan City was arrested Monday.

Deputies reported receiving a report from a doctor at Children's Hospital of New Orleans about a 3-month-old with injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Detectives said they interviewed family members and determined the baby was in his father's care when he suffered the injuries. Parker was booked into the parish jail. No bond had been listed as of this morning.

Custodial dad, gal pal charged after 9-year-old girl found locked in basement (Kansas City, Missouri)

Wed, 05/15/2013 - 13:43
Connect the dots, folks. TIMOTHY A. PHILLIPS is obviously a custodial father, as this tortured child clearly spends all her time at Daddy's house. There is NO MENTION of the mother of this child--it's as if Daddy found this little girl in a cabbage patch.

Questions should always be raised when a sick sh** like this dude has custody. Is Mom alive, dead, disappeared? Was she battered/tortured as well? Can her whereabouts be confirmed? How did the father get custody? Who gave him custody? Were their previous allegations of domestic violence or child abuse that were ignored, discounted, dismissed?

None of these questions are even considered here.

Father, girlfriend charged after 9-year-old found locked in basement

Posted on: 11:56 am, May 15, 2013, by Sarah J. Clark, updated on: 12:54pm, May 15, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Mo., couple has been charged with child abuse after a 9-year-old girl was found locked in their basement.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters-Baker on Wednesday said Timothy A. Phillips, 29, and Lacey A. Chaney, 27, each face child abuse and neglect charges in addition to felonious restraint charges for the mistreatment of Phillips’ 9-year-old daughter.

According to Peters-Baker, a school nurse suspected the 9-year-old was the victim of abuse after the child was sent to her office smelling of urine. The nurse said the girl admitted that her “private parts” hurt.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies went to the home to question the parents and they acknowledged the girl was kept in the basement.

According to the probable cause, Timothy Phillips, the girl’s father, said she had a bladder control problem and would urinate on herself. Phillips told authorities that he “cannot afford to keep cleaning up after [her].” He admitted the girl is bathed “every five days or so” because she does not like it.

According to the probable cause, Phillips acknowledged that not bathing the child has caused severe infections. Phillips said due to the infections the child was forced to urinate and defecate outside because he did not want the infections to be passed on to others in the house. When asked why his daughter was not treated by a doctor, Phillips told police, “What difference would it make, [she] is just going to p— on [herself] anyways.”

Phillips admitted to ‘popping’ the girl in the mouth and ‘whopping’ her behind before he locked her in the basement while he was at work as punishment for being suspended from school.

Phillips’ live-in girlfriend, Lacey Chaney, confirmed much of what Phillips said, adding that she believed the girl urinated on herself to keep others away. Chaney said she contracted a yeast infection after using the same toilet as the girl and since that time the girl was forced to urinate and defecate outside.

Also living in the home was Chaney’s 6-year-old son who received preferential treatment. Chaney was able to name the last time he was seen by a doctor, but could not for the girl.

Deputies examined the home and found it to be generally tidy and well lit with clean bedding and clothes in the bedrooms.

In the probable cause, an officer at the scene described entering the basement.

“The door was secured by a lock and chain and had an alarm affixed to the frame that sounded an audible alarm when opened from the basement,” the officer wrote. He described the basement as dimly lit with exposed wires and a leaking sewage pipe. The officer said the basement smelled strongly of urine and noticed a blanket that appeared to be used as toilet paper. He found the girl’s clothing in a small pile outside, covered in dirt and smelling of mildew.

The victim was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital for evaluation. While being treated, the child said she could not remember the last time she used the restroom inside her home.

Chaney and Phillips are being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

Dad convicted in drowning deaths of two sons (Dallas, Texas)

Dad NAIM RASOOL MUHAMMAD finally found guilty to capital murder.

Texas man convicted in drowning deaths of 2 sons

Associated Press – 1 hr 14 mins ago..

DALLAS (AP) — A jury took less than 10 minutes Wednesday to convict a North Texas man of capital murder for drowning two of his sons.

Naim Rasool Muhammad, 34, was found guilty of killing 5-year-old Naim and 3-year-old Elijah in August 2011. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

He confessed to police that he took his children to a Dallas-area creek and told them to pretend they were swimming before he held their faces under water. He told a detective he drowned the boys because he was mad at the children's mother, Kametra Sampson, for breaking up with him.

Prosecutors said Muhammad earlier on the day of Aug. 22, 2011, forced Sampson and the boys into his car. Sampson was able to escape the car and alert a constable. But rather than give chase, the constable opted to call police, delaying the search for Muhammad and the boys.

Authorities said he had made an unsuccessful attempt to take the couple's year-old son from another location earlier the same day.

Muhammad's confession was recorded on video and played to the court Tuesday. "I held them down," Muhammad said. "I didn't let them get up."

Defense attorney Paul Johnson told jurors at the start of the trial Monday that he expected Muhammad to be convicted and was focusing on keeping his client off death row.

Dad finally jailed for 7 years for sexually abusing daughter; was protected, defended by church leaders (Australia)

Wed, 05/15/2013 - 10:38
Sickening how these folks just fawn all over molester dad, and chose not to do anything to help the victim when she came forward.

News flash: Sexual predators often perform as "gentle" and "good with children." That's how they gain the trust of people around them. That's how they are successful. But the real truth is that this guy is a classic sociopath. He couldn't give a sh** about the victim or how she felt.

Notice that there is no mention of a mother in this home. Was there one?

Jailed for abusing his own daughter

Anthea Cannon | May 15th, 2013

A FATHER who abused his young daughter for five years before becoming a church leader has been jailed for seven years.

The man, who was originally from the Golden Plains Shire, pleaded not guilty to 28 charges of indecent assault and gross indecency and was found guilty of 20.

He was sentenced in the County Court yesterday to a minimum of four years and two months without parole.

He will be on the Sex Offender Register for life.

During the trial, the court heard the victim sought help from Baptist Church minister the Rev Stewart Rae after being abused from the ages of 4 to 9.

Mr Rae admitted he did not notify police, instead arranging an apology from the father, before the father was sponsored for Bible training.

After being involved with several churches, the man became a pastor and ran a church in regional Victoria.

Seven character references from religious leaders were tendered by the defence, who stated the father was good with children, an active community volunteer and gentle.

In sentencing, Judge Pullen said the case represented a gross breach of trust and by pleading not guilty, he had shown no remorse toward the victim's suffering at the time and since.

Adults Surviving Child Abuse president Dr Cathy Kezelman said child abuse still went unreported by people in positions of trust.

"There's also attitudes now that can prioritise perpetrators. We still see abuse not reported and children not protected," she said. "It's hard to know (what percentage go unreported or covered up) but we know the community in general has a hands-off attitude.

"People think it's not their business but keeping a child safe is everyone's business. "

Dr Kezelman said it was important to seek justice no matter when the crimes occurred.

"I'm not sure how much closure this brings (the victim). It's a significant step and an achievement, but people need ongoing support to reclaim their health and positively go forward," she said.

Baptist Union of Victoria mission and ministries director the Rev Daniel Bullock said the union had not been informed of Mr Rae's non-reporting of abuse until the court case.

Mr Bullock said while each local Baptist church was autonomous and policy could not be enforced by the BUV, it had developed resources to help churches deal with cases of child abuse.

"Our policy recommendation includes reporting any incident of child abuse to police, and from the reports we have been provided by churches this has also been the practice," he said.

"The provision of support for churches has evolved since initial guidelines provided in 1995, as a result of growing awareness of the need to articulate more clearly, safe and ethical behaviour for our ministers and leaders.

"Duty of care, safe church and code of ethics recommendations from the BUV are adopted to differing degrees by different Baptist Churches.

"In the 1980s there was low awareness of issues of abuse and unlike today, few churches, schools or other institutions had clear and transparent policies in place."

Mr Bullock commended the victim for her courage in reporting the case.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, which started last month, is investigating where systems have failed to protect children.

Father of missing boys wrote suicide note, did not mention his sons

Tuesday 14 May 2013

The father of two boys missing for over a week left a suicide note on his computer, police said on Tuesday.

In the letter, the man said he did not see any point in living any longer but did not give a motive. The letter made no mention of the brothers, aged nine and seven, who were last seen on Monday evening a week ago.

Their father’s body was found in woods near Utrecht on Tuesday morning.

The letter was written on Monday afternoon, after the man had collected his sons from their mother. He told his ex-partner they were going on holiday to Luxemburg.

More details are emerging about the man’s final hours. Police say they now know he withdrew €175 from his bank account on Monday but only €45 has so far been accounted for.

He also bought petrol in Limburg on Monday evening and phoned his girlfriend to say he was in a hotel. Police say that call was actually made from the car.

Searches of woodland in Utrecht and Limburg have failed to turn up any sign of the boys.

Their disappearance will be the subject of a television appeal on Tuesday evening.

Plainfield infant allegedly assaulted dies; father charged with first-degree murder

May 14, 2013 3:36 PM
Written by Staff Report

ELIZABETH — The father of a Plainfield infant, who died after being gravely injured during an alleged assault Friday, is facing murder charges, authorities said.

The baby’s father, Michael Bell Jr., 34, was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in connection with Monday’s death of his 3-month-old son, Zino Bell, Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said.

Bell is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday at Union County Superior Court, Elizabeth.

Bell was arrested Saturday in Newark while on a bus on the way to Iowa, officials said.

The arrest was part of a cooperative investigation near Newark’s Penn Station between the Union County Homicide Task Force, New Jersey Transit Police Department and Amtrak Police Department. He was transported to the Union County Jail in Elizabeth and ordered held without bail.

Bell originally was charged with aggravated assault. The charges were upgraded to murder Tuesday afternoon.

According to the investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Division, the baby was assaulted by his father Friday.

Officers were called to a house on the 200 block of Lee Place in Plainfield at about 10:35 p.m. and discovered the injured 3-month-old suffering from fractures and internal bleeding, authorities said.

Police transported the child to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he remained in grave condition until he was pronounced dead Monday afternoon.

The baby’s is believed to be Plainfield’s second homicide of 2013. A 44-year-old city man allegedly beat his mother to death in February.

Torrington dad accused of beating 4-year-old son
Published: Monday, May 13, 2013

BANTAM

A Torrington father accused of striking his 4-year-old son in the head and back with a leather belt is facing felony risk of injury to a minor and misdemeanor assault charges.

Charles Perry, 23, 92 Cookes Ridge, Torrington, told police he struck the child after the 4-year-old strangled two of the man’s four pet rats.

According to a sworn statement from Perry, he left his 4-year-old son inside for between 30 and 45 minutes while Perry went outside to work on his car in the driveway. When Perry went inside to check on the toddler, he saw two of his four pet rats were dead, and that he believed the boy had strangled them.

Perry said he asked the 4-year-old, “What did you do?” The boy responded, “I don’t know.”

According to Perry’s arrest affidavit, he told police, “He lost it and slapped [the boy] on the side of his head. (The boy) began crying and Perry kept asking him ‘What did he do?’ (the boy) kept saying he didn’t know. Perry said he took his leather belt off placed (the boy) on the bed and struck (the boy) two to three times on his bottom.”

The boy’s mother, however, found a red mark on the boy’s back and a bruise behind his right ear. The boy’s mother also said that Perry called her immediately after the incident, saying he’d hit the boy twice on the head and once on the back with the belt.

A public defender has since been appointed to represent Perry, whose bond was set at $30,000. Perry is scheduled to appear in Bantam Superior Court on June 6.

Dad accused of drowning sons faces death row (Dallas County, Texas)

Father Accused of Drowning Sons Faces Death Row

Tuesday, May 14, 2013 | Updated 6:11 AM CDT

The attorney for a 34-year-old man accused of drowning two of his sons in a North Texas creek told jurors on Monday that he expects the father to be convicted, and he'll focus on keeping the man off death row.

Defense attorney Paul Johnson gave the blunt assessment to a Dallas County jury during his opening statements in the capital murder trial of Naim Rasool Muhammad, who is accused in the August 2011 drowning of two of his sons, 5-year-old Naim and 3-year-old Elijah. Prosecutors have said they would seek a death sentence if Muhammad is convicted.

Dallas County prosecutor Tammy Kemp detailed for the jury, step by step, the moments leading to the children's deaths south of Dallas.

She said Muhammad used a brick to force the boys and their mother into his vehicle as she walked the children to school; the older boy was starting kindergarten.

Their mother jumped out of the vehicle at an intersection and alerted a nearby constable, who called police but did not pursue the fleeing vehicle. Constables are mainly process servers in civil cases.

Muhammad's mother later called 911 to say her son had drowned the boys and she had their unresponsive bodies.

Court records show Muhammad has a history of violence and Child Protective Services officials had been tracking the family for months.

Muhammad confessed to the killings later that day, telling homicide detectives during a videotaped interview that he drowned the boys in a remote creek, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Authorities have said Muhammad also tried but failed to take his youngest child, a 1-year-old, from another location earlier in the day.

The children had been under watch by Texas Child Protective Services since early 2011, after the agency received a referral of family violence. CPS declined to say who made the referral but said the three children and their mother, Kametra Sampson, were living together in a shelter at the time.

Custodial dad arrested for torture of 11-year-old daughter (Shichang, China)

Tue, 05/14/2013 - 12:01
So it's "unclear" where the mother is or what happened to her. Let me suggest two likely scenarios for a custodial father who had no problems torturing his own little girl:

1) He killed her and hid the body very well; or
2) She fled for her life and has "disappeared" in order to stay alive

Chinese girl torture: Father arrested after 11-year-old daughter is found with mouth stitched with fishing cord

Xiao Li was also forced to kneel on broken glass, hung upside down and beaten with sticks and had her head dipped in boiling water

An 11-year-old girl had her mouth stitched up with fishing cord and her head dipped in boiling water during a horrific campaign of alleged abuse by her father, according to reports.

Little Xiao Li was forced to kneel on a floor covered with broken glass, hung upside down and beaten with ropes and sticks and had her skin pierced with sewing needles.

The malnourished child's unimaginable ordeal came to light this week when she was discovered walking along a road in the town of Shichang in China's southwestern Guizhou Province.

Photographs from the hospital she was taken to show scars all over her body, while her hair is unlikely ever to grow back because of the temperatures it was subjected to.

The girl's father was arrested following the discovery of the girl.

The victim's grandmother, who is mother to the arrested man, told Sky News that she had looked after the child for five years before her son returned from working elsewhere in China.

Xiao Li is now recovering in hospital. The costs of her medical care have been waived and the local authorities claim to be organising an extensive programme of psychological treatment.

Chen Yuefang, a local government official, said they are now seeking guardians to look after Xiao Li for the remainder of her childhood because her grandparents are too elderly to do so.

It is unclear where her mother is or what might have happened to her.

Judge: 12-year-old boy can stay with older sister after custodial dad charged with aggravated child abuse (Miami, Florida)

Tue, 05/14/2013 - 11:51
We first reported on this case a few days ago. Even at that time, we suspected that ADOLFO GUZMAN was a custodial father. Turns out we were correct. Still no word on what happened to the mother of these kids, or how this guy was able to move from the Dominican Republic to the U.S. with three kids.

MIAMI - A dependency court judge ruled a 12-year-old boy can stay with his older sister after their father was charged with tying the boy to a pole with a bicycle cable wire.

The judge ruled Adolfo Guzman's son could stay in their Miami Beach apartment with his 15 and 21-year-old sisters under the supervision of the Department of Children and Families.

Guzman can have no contact with his son until his criminal case is resolved, the judge ruled.. He can see his 15-year-old daughter.

Police arrested Guzman on Sunday and charged him with aggravated child abuse. Neighbors said Guzman hadn't been back to his apartment since his arrest.

According to an arrest report, Guzman's son left their apartment without permission Saturday. When he returned home, Guzman threatened to tie him up if he continued to wander off. A neighbor said Guzman woke up and his son wasn't home.

On Sunday, the boy left again without permission. When he returned, Guzman used the cable wire to tie him to the pole outside their apartment, according to the arrest report.

Passer-bys flagged police officers down, who had the Miami Beach Fire Department cut the boy loose.

"It's all my fault. It's not his fault," the 12-year-old boy told Local 10's Glenna Milberg. "It's all my fault because I'm the one who got out of the house without permission. I came late."

The boy is the youngest of Guzman's children. A single father, Guzman raises his three children on a disability check. He moved to the U.S. from the Dominican Republican about three years ago.

"I don't say nothing because he deserved that because he made my dad do that," said the boy's sister.

"He never hit me in my life. Not even my sisters," said the boy.

Mon, 05/13/2013 - 13:56
Another case with a lot of omissions. Notice that we hear mention of Daddy and "the child's uncle." And that the surviving kids are now in "protective custody."

What is missing once again? Any mention of the mother. Was there a mother in this home? Or was this a custody/visitation situation?

Dad is identified as ZACHARY BARBER.

Mon, 05/13/2013 - 13:45
Is PIERRE SCARBROUGH a custodial father? Notice that Daddy Dearest and his useless gal pal beat this girl on a school night, not on a weekend.

Sure looks like yet another abusive father who was able to get custody. What happened to Mom? What judge gave Daddy his "rights"?

Cops: Couple beat girl, 11, with extension cord for eating ice cream

May 12, 2013|by Geoff Ziezulewicz | Tribune reporter

A Chicago father and his girlfriend face battery charges after they allegedly beat the man’s 11-year-old daughter with an extension cord because she ate their ice cream.

Pierre Scarbrough, 41, and Faith Alston, 37, were ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bail Sunday at Cook County bond court in connection to the alleged thrashing.

They both face domestic battery and aggravated battery of a child younger than 13 charges, according to court records.

The victim suffered numerous deep cuts and welts on her arms and back from the beating, according to court records.

Scarbrough became upset Thursday when he discovered his daughter had eaten all the ice cream in their home on the 8000 block of South Loomis Boulevard, according to Kent.

The couple then made plans to beat the girl with an extension cord when she got home from school that afternoon, Kent said.

At about 8 p.m. that night, Scarbrough and Alston entered the girl’s room, Kent said.

Alston held the girl down while Scarbrough struck her about 12 times with the cord, according to Kent.

Officials at the girl’s school noticed her wounds Friday and she was taken to a hospital, according to court records.

The victim told police her father had punched her in the eye earlier this month, according to court records.

Scarbrough and Alston admitted to striking the girl with the extension cord, according to Kent.

“Yea I beat that lil (expletive) with a ironing cord,” Scarbrough reportedly told police when he was arrested Friday, court records state. “She stole from me.”
