Qld dad violently threw baby girl: court

AAP • May 23, 20131:40PM

A NEWBORN baby is fighting for her life after her angry father threw her into her cot as hard as he could, a court has heard.

The man, 39, is facing one count of grievous bodily harm and appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday where he successfully applied for bail.

During the application the court was told the man, from North Lakes, allegedly threw the five-week-old infant into her cot in a fit of rage last Friday evening.

The baby, who is a twin, is critically ill in Redcliffe Hospital.

Magistrate Wendy Cull granted bail on the condition he is forbidden from seeing either of his babies.

He will live with his sister on the Gold Coast, and is required to report regularly to police.

The man will reappear in court on July 2.
